About The Arboretum
The Fylde Memorial Arboretum and Community Woodland is a peaceful, volunteer-run space dedicated to remembrance and reflection. Nestled in the heart of Blackpool, it honours those who have served in the Armed Forces and public service, and offers a quiet place for the community to gather, learn, and grow together. With native trees, memorial stones, and a commitment to wildlife and wellbeing, the Arboretum is a living tribute — shaped by many, remembered by all.

Name the Dog!
Remembrance Competition
open for ages 5-11 years
At the Fylde Memorial Arboretum, a bronze dog statue and memorial bench sit proudly with the words:
“They Also Served” This moving tribute, donated by
Murphy’s Army Purple Poppy Campaign
honours the animals who have served alongside humans in the Armed Forces, emergency services, and other uniformed roles. But our brave bronze dog doesn’t have a name yet — and that’s where local children come in!

First Prize – £50 Gift Voucher and a £50 prize for winners school
Second Prize – £30 Gift Voucher
Third Prize – £20 Gift Voucher
Winners must be able to attend a short prize-giving at the Arboretum, and may be featured in the Blackpool Gazette.
Prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered. Prizes
will be presented in person at the Fylde Memorial Arboretum on a date to be arranged
